Kathmandu – Dr. Min Bahadur Shrestha, Vice-Chairman of National Planning Commission of Nepal, visited Beijing to participate in the first High-level meeting of the Forum on “Global Action for Shared Development” organized by China International Development Cooperation Agency of the People’s Republic of China on 8-11 July 2023.
Dr. Shrestha participated in a group meeting with H.E. Mr. Han Zheng, Vice-President of the People’s Republic of China this morning. While expressing gratitude for their valuable participation of high-level representatives from various countries, the Vice-President of China H.E. Mr. Han Zheng underscored the importance of collaborative action between global partners from South and North for shared prosperity and common development of the world.
Addressing the sub-forum on “Global goods, Poverty reduction and Agricultural transition: A Juncture for South-south Cooperation,” on 10 July 2023, Vice Chairman Dr. Shrestha shed light on the existing policies and plan of Nepal to promote poverty alleviation and agricultural development, while at the same time highlighted the significance of global efforts for the development of global south.
Similarly, Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission delivered a keynote speech in the subforum “Capital Mobilization for Sustainable Infrastructure” emphasizing the urgency of capital mobilization and financing for development so that no country and no one is left behind in the path of economic prosperity.
The forum was attended by over 120 high-level international delegations including 23 high-level representatives participating offline particularly from Solomon Islands, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Cambodia, Nepal, Pakistan, Egypt, Bangladesh, Uganda, Burundi, Myanmar, among others.
On the sidelines, Vice-Chairman Dr. Shrestha held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Deng Boqing, Vice-Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) on 9 July 2023. Matters of mutual interests for strengthening bilateral cooperation between Nepal and China were discussed during the meeting.
Dr. Shrestha also had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Cong Liang, Vice-Chairman of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on 9 July 2023. Various issues of mutual benefit of both commissions were figured in the meeting.
The Nepali delegation comprised of H.E. Mr. Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, Ambassador of Nepal to the People’s Republic of China, and other senior officials from the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing and the National Planning Commission of Nepal.
